Glossary
Meesho settlement glossary
Every term you will meet in Meesho's payment, order and returns reports — in a line or two each.
For how these fit together, read How to reconcile Meesho payments. Rates of commission, fees and taxes change; read them from your own files.
- Ad order
- An order that came from a Meesho ads campaign. The payment file marks it in the Order Source column.
- Ads cost
- Meesho ads spend, charged by campaign for a period and taken off your settlements. It belongs to the account, not to any order, so it cannot be split across orders.
- AWB
- Air waybill: the courier's tracking number printed on a parcel's label. Returns reports list it for each parcel coming back.
- Claim
- A request to Meesho for compensation — for example for a return that came back damaged, wrong or missing. Claims have a short window that starts when the parcel is delivered back to you.
- Compensation
- Money Meesho pays you, for example on an approved claim. It can sit on an order's payment rows or, in the workbook's Compensation and Recovery sheet, at account level.
- Customer return
- An order that was delivered and then sent back by the customer. The sale is reversed and a return charge usually applies.
- Door-step exchange
- An exchange handled at the customer's door, shown as the order status Door-Step Exchanged.
- Final Settlement Amount
- What you actually received (or lost) on one payment-file row, after every charge. An order's real settlement is the sum of this column over all its rows.
- Fixed Fee
- A fixed fee per order, shown including GST in the payment file, where it applies.
- GST report
- Meesho's monthly GST report for your account: your sales and returns with their GST, which your accountant uses for your GST returns.
- GSTR-1
- The GST return in which a registered seller reports outward supplies (sales). Marketplace sales are reported from the marketplace's GST report.
- Listing price
- The price a product is listed at. Total Sale Amount less the listing price shows what the customer paid for shipping.
- Meesho Commission
- Meesho's commission on a sale, shown including GST in the payment file. The rate is in the Meesho Commission Percentage column where the file has it.
- Outstanding payments
- Meesho's report of payouts scheduled but not yet paid, with their dates — the best view of the money coming next.
- Payment File
- Meesho's report of payments already made: one row per payout or deduction, with the settlement split into its parts. An order is often paid in a later month's file.
- Platform fee
- The Meesho Gold / Mall Platform Fee column: a fee on orders under those programmes.
- Recovery
- Money Meesho takes back from you — for example an over-payment — shown with a reason. Like compensation, it can be on an order or at account level.
- A returns-related charge shown on its own line in the payment file, where it applies.
- Return Shipping Charge
- Shipping charged to you for a parcel coming back.
- RTO (return to origin)
- An order that never reached the customer — refused, unreachable or undeliverable — and went back to you. Its statuses run from RTO Locked or RTO Initiated through RTO OFD (out for delivery to you) to RTO Complete. With no sale, it should net to about ₹0.
- Settlement
- The money paid out for an order after commission, fees, shipping, returns, taxes and adjustments.
- Shipping Charge
- Forward shipping charged to you, shown including GST in the payment file.
- SKU
- Stock keeping unit: your own code for a product (and often its size), as set in your Meesho catalogue.
- Sub Order No
- The id of one item line in a customer's order. Every Meesho report carries it, so it is the key for matching orders, payments, returns and tickets.
- Supplier ID
- The id of your Meesho seller account, shown in the supplier panel. Each Meesho account you run has its own.
- Supplier panel
- Meesho's website for sellers, where orders are processed and reports are downloaded.
- TCS (tax collected at source)
- GST that an e-commerce operator collects on sales made through it and deposits with the government in your name. It appears in your GST cash ledger and can be used against your GST liability.
- TDS (tax deducted at source)
- Income tax that an e-commerce operator deducts on sales made through it (section 194-O of the Income-tax Act). It is credited against your income tax.
- Total Sale Amount
- What an order sold for, as the payment file records it. Positive on a forward payout.
- Total Sale Return Amount
- The sale taken back when a customer return is processed. Negative.
- Warehousing fee
- A warehousing charge shown on its own line in the payment file, where it applies to the order.
- Weight discrepancy
- When a parcel is charged for more weight than declared, so shipping costs more than it should. It shows up as shipping far above what the same product usually costs.
